Home Format Productions FAQ History

From whence we cometh

Front & Centre first came into being in 1994 with the closing of Los Angele's longest running hit play, TAMARA, the first production to take place in separate rooms simultaneously. Ten years before that the group made its foray into this unusual form of theater with a murder mystery. Ultimately the murder mysteries evolved into audience-participatory offerings, for the most part, played in a singular space. This resulted in the formation of Masterpiece Mysteries. With the popularity of the mystery genre and the difficulty of staging scenechronous plays, the principals have devoted the majority of their time to the homicidal side of the business.

The two factions strive to maintain distinctly separate identities for one simple reason — people get the productions confused, assuming all shows to include mysteries, mistaking interaction for voyeurism and so on.... and understandably so given that these forms of entertainment still remain relatively untapped and unexplored

F&C is proud to have broken new formattic ground with its revolutionary production STAGES and with its upcoming shows Blind Pig and The Supper Club (details to follow on these new shows once they're up and running). Please visit our productions page to get specifics on your show of choice.

The primary worker bees behind F&C are playwright C.A. Sperry and Euro costumer Yolan. Scores of emerging artists have cut their teeth on F&C's interactive and voyeuristic productions while seasoned pros have tested their mettle by trying something new and challenging.
